E-drive Compressor

High performance, IoT Compressor

While working as an industrial designer at Shapelabs in 2018, I worked with the Unicla and SuperCool teams to design a wide variety of automotive products in heavy vehicle and cold-chain transport applications for companies such as Unidan Engineering and Euroscan.

One such product I have highlighted here, was the Unicla E-drive compressor, which was a vehicle compressor that included a CAN bus, ethernet, bluetooth, USB and analogue/digital data connectivity.

This project required working with threaded fasteners, connectors, injection moulded, machined and cast parts, embedded electronics, complex geometries and assemblies with low tolerance and desired fluid-dynamic and thermo-dynamic properties. The product development required working with client and multiple manufacturers within agreed upon timelines.  I utilised CAD, FEA, and visual rendering packages.
